How Do These Higher Rates Affect Me?

  • Healthcare updates

The Iowa Insurance Department approved rate increases for many insurance companies this past summer for January 2016. These requests for rate increases had to be justified. Through the process, the increases were granted and yes, this does affect everyone. I am referring specifically to the individual marketplace under age 65. So, what should you do?

I encourage you to call me 515-285-6766. I will look at what you have, your current costs and your utilization. I will ask you about changes that may have occurred in your life. Such as marriage, divorce, job change, new children, and children “aging out”, etc. to see if the benefits you’re paying for are truly the benefits that best suit your needs.

I will then provide you with many quotes. We will walk through these and quickly discard the high end and the ones that are not appropriate, leaving us with a few selections to compare. If the end result proves that you should stay where you’re at, I will very respectfully tell you that. If there is a discovery, that will be pointed out to you and whatever you choose to do is what will happen next. But, I strongly encourage you not to just be “deer in the headlights” with what’s on the table. Let’s dig into this as a team and find out how we can help make 2016 a better year for you.
